A wise man without wisdom

HHmmm...Now it has been 2 weeks after my wisdom teeth operation. I am still recovering now and almost reaching 95% of my optinum health. My gum is still a bit swollen, and my jaw still hurts slightly when I open my mouth wide big.

Below is a photo of my upper wisdom teeth.

The lower one have been thrown away by the doctor as they were already cut or sawed into pieces during the operation.

Finally I can start eating meat, do sport and drink Coffee as well as Sangria!!! The hardtime is over and now I am living my life without wisdom...... :D

Behold..........Jäger....meister

Jägermeister is 35% alcohol beverage, made from 56 herbs, fruits, woods, barks and roots from all over the world. For example, cinnamon from Sri Lanka, bitter oranges from Australia, ginger root from southern Asia, red sandalwood from East India, blueberries from Europe... and, of course, the secret herbs for the secret recipe developed by Curt Mast.

It tastes like yomeshu but stronger in alcohol content.

It is be mixed to become different types of cocktails. With ice cubes;Fresh fruit;Fruit juices;Other soft drinks (Coca-Cola, bitter lemon...);Cocktail cherries;Various types of syrup;Milk;Cream;Ice cream etc...

I have tried with chocolate moose + chocolate ice cream... :P

It must be served ice cold! Must keep the bottle in the freezer. It wont freeze... dont worry..

My 1st encouter with Jägermeister was when I was working as a waiter in a german restaurant in Penang when some german customer ordered Jägermeister. I have forgotten totally about it until Jasmine mentioned it in one of my article : La Sangria~~My favourite Beverage .

This bottle (0.7L) costs about €8.50. When I bought it, it was on promotion. €6.50.

Zum Wohl!!!

An Unforgetable Weekend

Few weeks ago Khon came to Bruchsal to visit me. And now is the time for me to visit him inReutlingen.

It was one of the best weekends that I have ever had in Germany. I travelled to Reutlingen during Pfingstensfeiertage.

Who is that guy behind the door??
come out... dont be shy.... Ang gu gu Ang gu gu....

(The house of Khon Quang Quang Quang!!!)

I would say that I really enjoy my time in Reutlingen. I really felt at home. One of the reason is his parent speak cantonese. Another interesting thing is, they speak cantonese + german. As for my family, we speak cantonese+english.

Khon's parent, Me

Khon's mum and dad are very nice and caring. She cooked lots of vietnamese food for me to eat... Then the dad taught me how to fix bicycle so that I can save of money in the future during my stay in Germany. Thanks to them alot!!

Above this the Quang's Family. Including Khon's uncle and aunty, cousins. Later at night we went for bowling with his uncles und his father. They are very cool though..
The warm feeling is just like as if I am eating with my family and relatives.. All of them speak cantonese!!!

The good thing is I dont only get to know Khon's family and relative, but also some of his friends too.

Me, Heinrich and Khon

Heinrich is german, studying medicine in Tuebingen University.

The above is another version of "bowling".Ahh.. I have forgotten the name of this game again.
The ball is smaller and lighter, with 2 or without hole for fingers.

Khon: You cant see me you cant see me ... :P

During the day time we went for sight seeing, visiting the town of Reutlingen and Tuebingen. In between we went for ice cream.

In the ice cream shop.

Below are some scenery photos...

The Neckar River in Tuebingen. If one follows the current of this river, he will reach Heidelberg.

The old town in Reutlingen

In Tuebingen

At night there were parties at a park in Tuebingen. There were live concerts, food and drink.

We went for swimming, badminton, sauna and steam room during the day time but too bad... no photo...

Well, the time passed really very fast. And now I am in the office working as usual... :(

Once again. I would like to express my heartly gratitude to Khon and his family for their warm hospitality.

Lunch at Romanian German's home

After the sunday service, I was invited by the worship leader to her home for lunch. She and her husband are german from Romania. Of course they cooked romania and german food at that time.

If you see my face, my face is still abit swollen because 3 days ago I just had my wisdom teeth operation :P

hahhahaaha

Opportunity to serve the Lord musically

Before I came to Germany, I was always wanting to serve the music ministry in the church in Germany. But it was not easy to find one due to some rules and regulations in the church.

Finally while I was in Bruchsal, the Christliche Gemeinde Bruchsal needed pianist and finally I got to play!!!

YEAH!!!

I learned some german christian song, played solo with 2 singers.

That day was fun.

Before the service I was asked by the church to introduce myself on the stage in front of the community as most of them still dont know me.

After the sunday service I got invited by the worship leader to her home for lunch. GREAT!!

During the operation....

I received a phonecall from the specialist asking me to go there at 3.30pm in stead of 4pm. I reached there at 3.10pm.

Doctor: Ok Jason. Now we will extract 2 wisdom teeth from your right side. 1st let's start with injections.

I received 3 injections above and another 4 injection below my mouth. About one minutes later the right side of my tongue, upper and lower lips started to feel numb.
The experience was pretty scarry and weird. The feeling of having a numb tongue in the mouth was just like keeping a tasteless meat in the mouth. You wont even know if you bite it.
Then I was waiting and waiting for about half an hour as the doctor was still attending to another patient. I used that time to make some photo from my handy, sent some sms and play some games in my handy.

When the time came.... ( Dang Dang Dang dang..... Dang Dang Dang dang..) Beethoven Symphony No 5.

Doctor: Today I guess we will just exact the teeth from one side. If there is no problem, then we will decide if you want to extract the teeth from the other side.
Jason: What problem would it have?
Doctor: Namely take very long time to extract.Ok. Lets start with your upper wisdom tooth on the right side.

During the process I felt that my tooth was forced to be pulled out by spanner...

mouth I__I *
Imagine that the picture above is the tooth. On the left side of is my mouth. On the right side there is one asterisk( Just a symbol to determine the position for clarity for my explanation).
On the right side of the tooth I felt that it was a bending moment forced it to be pulled down. About 10 seconds later...

Doctor: Ok... It is out. Now we will extract the lower one. The lower one is more complicated and we wont use the same method. 1st we will break it and take them out from pieces.
Jason: ergh ergh...........( as I couldnt speak at that time)

The doctor 1st cut the gum opened so that the tooth could be exposed. (As the lower wisdom teeth were still hidden under the gum) And then...

Doctor: Now I am going to drill it into half.
sound effect: ziz!!!!!!!! ziz!!!! ziz!!!!!!!
Doctor: Now I am going to break it into half. You will hear a cracking sound like a rock.
sound effect: KRAK!!! (This was the most scary part)

It took quite a while for the doctor to crack the tooth successfully. So...
sound effect: KRAK!!! KRAK!!! KRAK!!! KRAK!!!

Doctor: Ok. Done. Do you still want to carry on with the other side?
Jason: ergh ergh...... ( I meant YES)

Ok. Another 7 injections. The procedure was still the same. But it took longer for the doctor to extract them out.

Finally it was over. I was told that I cant do sport for one week, no coffee (oh no!!!) ,no smoking and no alcohol drinks. ..
I was told by the doctor that I should take antibiotic just in case I have Kieferhöhle. (Kieferhöhle is a hole between gum and nose. The air can flow through it)
The doctor has already check that I have no Kieferhöhle but just in case.

Ok. I could finally go home now. (At 4.55pm) My tongue, lips were still numb at that time. I needed to walk to a farmacy to buy the antibiotic and pain killer, and then walk home.

Trust me, the feeling of having a numb tongue and lips is totally not fun. You wont even know that blood is coming out. I realised that while walking home when I saw my face from a car window. I was holding 2 ice pack on my faces while walking home.

Until 7.30pm, I still couldnt feel my tongue and lower lip. Shit... I was wondering if my jaw nerve was affected. I coudlnt sit still, wondering what my future would be if I am handicap if this way. I wouldnt be able to taste food anymore...and so on..
But then I am also trying to convience that myself that I received more injection at the lower part than the upper part. So it would take longer.

Until 9.00pm.... oohhh Thanks God... I got back the feeling...But then... I found out something..
I couldnt keep in my inner mouth tight , as if when I was trying to suck in my mouth and close my lips at the same time, there was bubbles coming out from my gum.

OK... thats it. I have Kieferhoehle. One of the risks which was mentioned before the operation.
So I waited until the next day and told the doctor about it during the check up.

Then Congratulation!!! I had to go through the 2nd operation , which I didnt expect at all!!

ok.. Another 3 injections above.

Now I should not blow my nose hard, I should not sneeze through my nose and have to keep on taking the antibiotic for 2 weeks.

Sigh... what a experience.....

Climax Life Experience in Germany

My life is Germany is pretty interesting... I get to try new stuffs.

1st time to:
1) feel snow
2) play snow fighting and build snowman
3) Skiing
4) More Bier
5) More Cinema
6) visit physiotherapie

And also... 1st time to go through operation.

Ya. Next week Thursday 19 May.

The is not a big deal actually . but it doesnt mean that it is without risks.. Furthermore, the risks are pretty scary.

Let me explain what has happened.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I went to see a dentist, planning to take out my wisdom teeth (because I feel that I already have enough wisdom, and I dont need wisdom teeth any more :D).
Ok. I went to a dentist, told him what I wanted him to do. He checked my teeth, and asked me to take X ray. And the result of the X ray ...
Dentist: Ok, Jason. I will transffer you to a specialist.
Jason: ...huh.. What? Could you explain why?
Dentist: Your wisdom teeth is quite complicated to be taken out. You need to go through a surgery.
Jason: wow!! cool man.... ( Of course I didnt say that)
Then immediately I followed the address, cycled to the specialist to make an appointment.
The doctor there attented to me and explained me the do and don't before and after the operation and the risks of undergoing this surgery.
Doctor: Ok Jason. This operation is not without risks. I tell you is not because I want to scare you. So that once I told you about the risks and you have to decide yourselve.
Risk1: The nerve of the Lower lip, tongue is located every near to the lower jaw wisdom teeth and if the nerve is damage, your lower lip and tounge will have no feeling anymore. Besides, your lower Jaw will also be damage.
Risk2: To extract the wisdom teeth from the upper jaw might also cause a hole in your nose as the nerve is also located near the teeth.
So far no such case has happened before, but it doesnt mean that it wont happen.
You need to take another X ray before the operation.
Jason: Then what is the risk if I dont go through this operation?
Doctor: Then your other teeth will be affected and damage by the wisdom teeth.
ok then
I think I have no choice but have to go through this operation. sigh...
Doctor: And you cant do sport for one week. Cant even cycle.
Jason : oh WHAT!!??
~~end~~~
Weird Dream
Sigh.. This morning I was late for work (for...1 minute) becasue I had a dream, a weird dream.
Even though it is not the 1st time for me to dream that I am already back in Singapore, this one is a pretty real.
I have been dreaming that I am back in Singapore, the 1st things I realised in the dream is... THE WEATHER IS SO ...HOT!!!
No joke, it has been many times.
But just now, the dream's focus was not on the weather.
I dreamed that I left Germany today out of a sudden and back in National Uni of Singapore (NUS). Leave of my stuffs and friends behind is Germany. I dont know why.
Rene, a friend I know in NUS asked me:
Rene: Jason. why are you back so early? I thought you have 2 more months.
Jason: ohhh I have been staying in Germany for so long... it is enough already ..
When I said that, in my heart I knew that I was not telling the truth. There was something which is kept in my heart but i dont know what. Feeling very uneasy that time.
Then the life was as usual in NUS and the hostel. In NUS, there is this new high class restaurant, and the food that they serve are... unique and new (specially the shape). The bookshop (NUS CO-OP) is also newly renovated.
I was in a meeting with the rest of the hostelites. There was one lady speaker, who kept on scolding and scolding the people there, which I thought was pointless.
She scolded one by one in the meeting.
Lady: You. Why you didnt go to this place while you were in Germany
Lady: And you, why you didnt do that while you are in Germany
Lady: and you ....and you!!! `o´ ....
(The weird thing she mentioned the word Germany. I thought I was the only one who went to Germany but she was pointing to someone else)
She continued scolding and blaming other people and I was seating there, thinking about my life in Germany. I missed it so much.
Today I am supposed to travel to Reutlingen to visit Khon. Khon is waiting for me in Reutlingen . Then one week later Jorge is coming over to Bruchsal to visit me. Then in June Jorge, Yu, and I are supposed to travel to Nürmberg to visit Clement, and watch a football match.
Everything has been planned but .. I am in Singapore...why!!??
I still have so many things to do in Germany. Why am I in Singapore now?
I was so sad, and just walked out of the meeting room without informing the lady and......the dream ends....
I woke up, realised that it was just a dream and also realised that .. I AM LATED FOR WORK!!!
When I was cycling to work, the sky was bright, the wind was smooth and cool, feeling very relief that I am still in Germany.
hhmmm...what a weird dream. The feeling of uneasiness is still here now when I am writing this blog.
ah ya.... I think I know why I was feeling uneasy in the dream. Because I left behind all of my promises, responsibility and friends (especially without informing them)
~~~end~~~~

Escaping from a smaller city to a much much smaller city!!

One day Benjamin drove me to another small town near by. The name of the town: Untergrombach

There is a baroque church on top on the hill (Michael Hill) of Untergrombach.

The scenary is very breathtaking... If my stay here, I will definately cycle there everyday, like what I usually do while I was in Penang, cycling up to pear hill. Of course this hill is 2 or 3 times higher..Would be quite exhausting...

Me MeMEME!!!!!

The sun... is.. setting actually

The night view of the town from the top.

We were actually lost our way in the jungle at the hill. Ben and I were joking that if we were really newspaper, then they would be a big news headline the next day : A German with his japanese friend lost in a small town!!

Why japanese? because to the people here, every chinese looking people from Asia is from Japan.

Once happened before Clement, hong kee from Canada, Jorge, a mexican and I, from Malaysia were speaking in English ( as usual). A german came to us and asked

German: Why do you japanese speak english with each other???

White Sausages??

One day the department where I am working had another party. Bigger Party. This bigger party was triggered from the conversation during the smaller party on Friday. (refer: hhmm.. working in a german environment part 1)

Every friday the workers from this particular department gather at 1.30pm to drink champaign, eat some snacks then chit chat. But on that one particular friday, we had big big smoke salmon (between 0.5 to 1m) with those long crispy bread.. (I forgot the name of the bread).

Then while I was eating the salmon with bread, one of the colleague told me to add some german sweet mustard. And they asked me if I have eaten that before.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Colleauges: Have you tried that mustard before?
Jason: hhmmmm no...
Colleagues: Serious?? It usually goes together with german white sausages(Weißwurst)
Jason: Ohh.. I havent eaten the white sausage before.
Colleagues: What!! You stayed in Munich and you havent eaten our famous white sausages!!??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Then they started talking among themselve...I couldnt really understand them when they start talking in german with each other (fast plus dialekt) but I heard something like next week we can have white sausages.... who should bring what...

Anyway... I was busy eating the salmon.... taste so ....nice!!!

One day before that day, I bumped into a colleauge while I was making coffee in the coffee room.

Colleague: Jason!! Tomorrow at 11am we will have white sausages.
Jason: :D????

The Bavaria white Sausages

On top of the white sausages, we have.....Meat loaf i think in english and .. not white sausages. Champagne, Beer, juices...

The whole group!!!

He is my friendly boss, who hires me and gives me lots of independency.

She is my friendly tutor in another department. Who guides me alot.

My friendly colleagues. The girl on my right is learning spanish too.. Surprisingly, we are in the same class. That was prerry funny when we met each other on the 1st day and she asked me what I was doing there.

That was my lunch!! Save money as I didnt have to go to the canteen. But I went anyway for salat.

Not Spring again!!! ach....ciu!!!

Spring time is not as heavenly as all of us might think, at least to some of the people, who suffer from "spring" allergy.

Look at the photo below. There are 2 white lolli pop like.

Below: My fingers..+ pollen of the white balls (above)

Many of the germans here suffer from sneezing, coughing, itching, runny noses, and watering eyes when the pollen starts to fly.

Each spring, summer, and fall tiny particles are released from trees, weeds, and grasses. The mission of the pollen is to fertilize parts of other plants. The pollen can trigger the allergic reaction that is called pollen allergy, or seasonal allergic rhinitis, and that many people know as hay fever or rose fever.

During spring time many many pollen are flying every where. For me, it looks like as if it were snowing... in spring...

They fly into my room, stick on my computer screen, my clothes and the worst is.... in my food!!!

bad bad pollen.. bad!!!

Very happening Labour day (AKA Tag der Arbeit)

Ok.... This public holiday is very very different compare to the one in Malaysia and Singapore.

The 1th of May, Labour day. In german, it is der Tag der Arbeit, also known as..
PARTY DAY!!!

Instead of resting or slacking at home, the germans have parties everywhere and anywhere.
On Saturday and Sunday (30th April and 1st May) I have visited 5 parties. 3 parties on saturday night and 2 parties on sunday.

WOW!!!

The culture goes like it...

They pitch up tents everywhere in different towns, drink biers, BBQ and play games. And others will cycle, walk or (by truck ) from town to town to visit the party.

A big group heading to parties!!!!

Then they will park their bikes and adjourn for... FOOD!!!

Tent open to public

For me, I didnt visit the public party. but privates one. Benjamin the Zimmermann.. also known as Benjamin the room man :P hehehehe... (nur ein Witz) invited me to visit his GF(Sarah) 's brother's 18 Bday party, his younger brother's labour day party, his eldest brother's labour day party and his church's labour day party.

Eating and drinking under the tents or shade

From left: Benjamin, Sarah, and her Father, the BBQ man

BBQ

My appetizer... AFter this one, I had a 3 times bigger steak. (Sorry no photo because the temptation of eating the steak is too strong)

Cheesy BBQ ...or BBQy Cheese (Just Cheese)

Turkish Appetizer (Papprika, olive, cheese...)

Drinks Sales Girls: It is a MUST to drink beer during summer. Here you are ..thank you. and €1.50 please...

The parents are quite very smart... They keep their children busy selling drinks but they are enjoying them selves out there... heheheheeh :D

Fun Time!!

Most of the parents would sit, eat, drink and chat. While the younger ones would enjoy themselve playing volley ball. Some active parents join the game as well. And they form a team which they call "Old" man team, (above 20) against "young" man team (below 20). Of course the old man team won as in the young man team mostly were under 15 year old.
hhhmmm Bully children.

(Me in the picture with Batik Pant)
Javier: Look at my Ultraman super power!!! Tu Tu Tu Tu......

Actually this land is belonged to a church member and he owns this truck( for sowing). He took the kids a ride by the truck. hhaahaa It is really fun. I was in the truck too!! The journey was very shaky.... ass pain....

This is Sarah and Benjamin. The most loyal Couple I have ever met.

Oh no!!! What happen? I think I should keep back the words I just said... :P

Help..help.. heheheh ... help!!!

Then at night there was camp fire, where we BBQ again...We did BBQ pizza, which we used Alu foil, put starch on the foil and then tomato paste, then ham, salami, champineon ... Then wrapped it and threw in ..."THE RING.... OF FIRE!!!!" (from Finding Nemo)

Ta Da~~~ My BBQ Pizza :D (No fully cooked though)

Then Ben and I cycled to another party!! (about 10km away). His elder Bro had another party. This piece of land belongs to his dad. Mr senior ZimmerMann

Ops.... the fire might be a bit too big for BBQ.... Now it functions as heater.

This river... functions as a natural fridge. Why??

Because......

Ok....That's all for the weekend. Now I am super tired and exhauted, darker than before (Now I am even darker than my indian house mate..unbelievable) but nonetheless, I really had a great time~~~!!!

ops...need to go to the toilet... too much beer during the party...
ok

Adios!!
